Layering and Retro prints are best fashion friends. By layering new trending pieces with classic layers you can incorporate bold prints into your wardrobe in small doses.

Retro prints have made a large impact this AW season and are coming through in both subtle and bold ways. If you are just dipping your toe into the water and are looking for an understated way to wear this trend, try starting with an underlayer and letting the cuff or collar of a shirt do the talking. Kevin demonstrates this ability when seen walking Susan and Peter the poodles. Kevin wears a Sandro Shirt featuring a brown retro print and layered this under a Uniqlo cardigan and a Scotch & Soda blazer. The look is styled to lift the collar of a shirt through the layers, letting it sit on top of the outerwear, to showcase the silhouette and print. If you were wanting a louder statement, you could remove the cardigan to showcase more of the print.

This Autumn Winter season we’re seeing a revival of bold psychedelic 70’s prints, embracing brown, cream, yellow and orange across a range of brands like Scanlan Theodore, Rachel Gilbert and alice McCALL.

There are no rules when it comes to fashion so feel free to experiment this season when dressing up for any occasion. The line between work, leisure and occasion dressing is still blurred and this grants us permission to really evolve the way we dress and curate our wardrobes. AW is a great time to invest in some quality wardrobe staples that should last you beyond the season.

With so many iconic Australian designers as well as the array of international brands, the options are plenty here at Emporium Melbourne this Autumn Winter season.
