Sure, summer gives us ample time to enjoy strappy sandals and chunky wedges, but realistically we spend the most time in our trusty Birkenstocks or barefoot anyway. It’s the cooler months that afford us the opportunity to lean into those trends we’ve spied on TikTok and get a little more experimental.

As sad as we might be to see the back of summer’s languid, balmy days, we’re looking forward to ushering in sweater weather, and when it comes to dressing, we’re starting from the ground up. Here, we round up four key footwear trends plucked straight from the autumn/winter 2025 runways that we predict will be everywhere this season.

Pointed toe flats

A cooler take on the classic almond and round-toed silhouettes, the pointed toe flat offers a more interesting, slightly edgier take on the work shoe favourite. Ganni’s viral buckle version brings a punkish attitude to the ladylike style, while Jo Mercer’s open-back version makes a chic addition to the work wardrobe.

Moto boots

Chunky, worn-in boots that would be right at home on a motorcycle are the style of the season. Buckled up and slouchy, these boots are made for riding. Opt for 124 Shoes’ brown suede version to add instant toughness to a feminine outfit.

Heeled loafers

Chunky loafers have been the style of choice over the past few seasons, but this autumn/winter, a more corporate-inspired look is taking over. Inspired by old-school court shoes, Husk’s patent nude loafers have a subtle heel that make them perfect for wearing with a knee-length skirt and white socks for a preppy take on workwear.

Mules

If kitten heel mules were the fancy summer shoe of the season, chunky slip-ons are the cool weather version. We’re loving Camper’s heavy duty take — it’s part loafer, part mule, all unfussy cool. Wear them with slouchy jeans, a black turtleneck and a chunky silver necklace. On the other side of things, Zimmermann’s feminine take makes the perfect party shoe.
